I’ve been thinking about and planning this this for so long that I’m almost shocked that it’s here.
One morning I’m sitting in my office looking out the driveway with my to do list and my dreams. The next the magical and relative ease of international travel has landed me in an Airbnb in Ljubljana, a place I could hardly pronounce 24hrs ago. (Major hint: say js as English ys and you’re golden)
We’ve made it here with ourselves and our belongings all in near perfect condition.
We’ve had a few errand hiccups here and there, namely learning that despite stores here selling stoves that use white gas, white gas itself is practically imposible to find. (We ended up finding the second best option, kerosene, deep in the paint section of a local version of Home Depot called Merkur)
Over the last several months we’ve played so many ‘what if’ and ‘what about’ scenarios out that I think I was braced for absolute madness to break out at all times. Which, of course, is very silly.
The wildest thing that has happened so far is seeing this very funny display in a square poking fun at the weather. Look closely and you’ll notice they’ve put up sprinklers above the sign that reads, “the area with Ljubljana’s own weather”

It feels surreal, but I think we’re ready!
More soon 🙂
